Time Schedule

Phase 1: Online Preliminary

Task: Create a web game
Expectations: All web-based projects welcome
Requirements: Use Tencent Cloud EdgeOne Pages

July 24: Registration Opens

Form a team of 2-3 people and complete your registration by filling out your team details

July 24 - August 11: Develop and Deploy

Start creating your web game centered around the theme “SplitSecond Spark”.
Use Tencent Cloud EdgeOne Pages to deploy your game and set up security acceleration services.

August 11: Submission Deadline

Please submit all required materials, including the game link, project introduction, and other relevant content. Additionally, upload the game video to YouTube.

August 17: YouTube Popularity Metrics Deadline

We will track the popularity of your submission on YouTube up until 23:59:59 (UTC+08:00) on August 17th. This data will be used as the basis for the "Popularity Experience" evaluation.

August 19 - August 21: Finalist Announcement

Announcement of 3 shortlisted teams.

Phase 2: Offline Final

Location: Shenzhen, China (since we already mentioned 3 teams will be shortlisted)
Challenge: 24 hours to create a web game based on a popular IP, followed by a live demo

September 15 - September 18: Final & Ceremony

Offline Finals & Award Ceremony (Shenzhen, China).

Popularity Experience (40%)

Scoring Basis: The number of views and likes on the entry's showcase video in the YouTube official compilation. Popularity is a direct measure of a game's appeal!
Submission: Publicly accessible web game URL and YouTube game showcase video URL.

Creative Design (30%)

Creativity & Theme: How novel and unique the gameplay, story, or visuals are, and how creatively the theme "SplitSecond Spark" is interpreted.
Artistic Expression: Overall quality and coherence of UI/UX design, music and sound effects, and artistic style.
Brand Integration: Creative use of the EdgeOne brand logo on game screens and other locations.
Submission: Please fill out according to the content guidelines in the submission form.

Technical Implementation (30%)

[Mandatory] Basic Requirements: Deploy the web game using Tencent Cloud EdgeOne Pages.

[Bonus] Advanced Capabilities:Configuring and using additional EdgeOne features, such as EdgeOne Functions (function computing), KV Storage, etc., offers a chance to compete for the “Product Operation Excellence Award.“

Submission: Submit your Tencent Cloud EdgeOne account ID, Pages project name, and the configuration of the features used in the form.

Participation Terms

1. Eligibility

  • Global developers, students, and designers are welcome to register. Participation is required in teams of 2-3 members.

2. Submission Requirements

Language:

To ensure consistency and accessibility for a global audience, English will be the official language of the hackathon. All game content—such as user interfaces, dialogues, voiceovers, in-game text, and the YouTube video as well as all other materials—must be presented in English.

Web Game URL:

  • A publicly accessible game page link, which must be deployed via Tencent Cloud EdgeOne Pages.

YouTube Video URL:

  • A public YouTube video link. The video should demonstrate core gameplay, highlight creative aspects, or serve as a trailer.
  • Suggested video title format:

i. Your Game Name - Team Name - A Tencent Cloud EdgeOne Game Hackathon Project

ii. Video description:

-Briefly introduce your game

-The game experience link

Project Introduction:

This is a key material to comprehensively present your project concept to the judges. Please fill in the content according to the requirements in the Submission form.

3. Originality

  • Entries must be original creations by the team. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited.

4. Tech Stack Requirement

  • Projects must be deployed and published using Tencent Cloud EdgeOne Pages..

5. Copyright Statement

  • Entries must not contain any unauthorized third-party trademarks, copyrighted music, images, fonts, or other materials.
  • Participants are fully responsible for the copyright of their work. The committee reserves the right to disqualify and nullify the results of any entry involved in copyright disputes.
  • It is recommended to use original materials or resources clearly marked as "free for commercial use" or compliant with open-source licenses.

Use Tencent Cloud EdgeOne Pages to create a project, select the project Acceleration region as "Global (MLC excluded)," and complete the Web game deployment.

FAQ

1. Can one person participate?

No, participation is required in a team of 2-3 members. We encourage collaboration and the exhange of ideas.

2. Are there restrictions on game engines or development languages?

There are no restrictions. You can use any web front-end technology or game engine you are familiar with (such as Cocos, Laya, Egret, Phaser, Three.js, etc.), as long as the final product can be built into a web page and deployed via Tencent Cloud EdgeOne Pages.

3. How are copyright issues defined? Can resources from open-source material libraries be used?

Using open-source material libraries is allowed, but you must strictly adhere to their usage agreements (e.g., whether commercial use is allowed, whether attribution is required, etc.). Any copyright disputes arising from improper use of materials will be the responsibility of the participating team. We strongly recommend using original or clearly authorized materials.

4.Who covers the travel expenses for the offline finals?

For the Top 3 teams in the finals,a certain amount of travel subsidy will be provided to support at least one core member in attending the offline finals in China, Shenzhen. Specific details regarding the subsidy will be included in the finals invitation letter.
