Final Standard Released! Tencent Cloud EdgeOne Capabilities Stably Incorporated into 3GPP Global Communication Standards
Recently, the 3GPP SA#110 plenary meeting concluded in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. Tencent Cloud, as a major contributor, promoted the completion of the final annual iteration of the standards related to EdgeOne capabilities.

3GPP is the world's largest international standards organization for mobile communications. This meeting was the 4th plenary meeting in 2025, and the meeting released the latest version of 5G core technology specifications such as TS 23.501. In March of this year, EdgeOne's two core capabilities, data boosting and rate limitation, were adopted in international standards for the first time. After three quarters of continuous iterations, this was also the last release of the year, which means this part of the international standard has become stable. This achieved deep integration of CDN and mobile communication networks, significantly improving the user experience of mobile Internet services such as video games, marking Tencent Cloud EdgeOne's leading position in the field of edge security acceleration.

Data boosting and rate limitation schemes are part of the 3GPP SA2 Rel-19 multimedia network transmission optimization standards. In this release of 3GPP international standards, TS 23.501 and TS 23.503 are the most important foundational specifications for 5G network architecture, providing a complete description and definition of both data boosting and rate limitation capabilities.
● TS 23.501: Defines the network architecture, related interfaces, and basic functions for data boosting and rate limitation;
● TS 23.503: Describes the corresponding policies and rules for data boosting and rate limitation.
Based on these two standards, the 3GPP CT working group has also developed corresponding Stage-3 specifications. These complete and detailed standard specifications ensure that manufacturers can achieve excellent interoperability in implementing end-to-end technical solutions.

It has been distinguished as a Major Player in Edge Delivery by Prestigious IDC MarketScape. It has been selected as a representative vendor in Gartner’s “Market Guide for DDoS Mitigation Solutions”, “Market Guide for Cloud Web Application and API Protection”, and “Market Guide for Edge Distribution Platforms”. According to Omdia's "DDoS Prevention Technology Market Tracker", Tencent Cloud EdgeOne holds the top market share for DDoS solutions in the Asia-Pacific region. In the evaluation of edge computing functions conducted by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), EdgeOne has demonstrated superior performance compared to its competitors. Moreover, Tencent Cloud with its EdgeOne is the only vendor that fully meets the standards set by CAICT in terms of edge security acceleration capabilities, making EdgeOne the pioneering case study of CAICT’s edge computing. In collaboration with CAICT, Tencent Cloud has also fully engaged in the standard development process by jointly publishing a white paper on the Edge Serverless domain.
