Media Just-In-Time Processing Duration Fee (Pay-as-You-Go)
EdgeOne's media processing is divided into two main product categories: Image Processing and Just-in-Time Video Processing . These leverage edge nodes to provide users with a novel media processing experience. EdgeOne Image Processing is billed via the Media Processing Count billable item. Image processing count usage is converted into Media Processing Count usage at specific ratios. EdgeOne Just-in-Time Video Processing is billed via the Media Processing Duration billable item. Video processing duration usage is converted into Media Processing Duration usage at specific ratios.
Image Processing (Formal commercial billing effective July 1, 2025)
Image Processing features(Including image processing functions initiated by edge functions) include adaptive format compression, automatic quality optimization, automatic rotation correction, and specified parameter processing. All Just-in-Time Image Processing features are billed under the Media Processing Count billable item. Different Just-in-Time Image Processing functions have different deduction ratios applied to their corresponding processing counts.
Media Processing Count Billable Item
Billable Item | Billing Method | Unit Price (USD / 1,000 times) |
Media Processing Count | Billed per thousand image processing instances | 0.1 |
Unit price: 0.1 USD/min.
Scope of use: Supports linear pricing pay-as-you-go to deduct the usage of the image processing.
Fees = Unit price × Deduction ratio × Actual image processing count.
Image Processing Deduction Ratios & Pricing
Smart Format Compression
Format Category | Image Type | Deduction Ratio | Converted Reference Unit Price (USD/1000Times) |
Nomal Format(webp、jpg、png、bmp、jp2、jxr、gif) | Not differentiated | 1 : 1 | 0.1 |
HEIF、TPG | Small images | 1 :0.3 | 0.03 |
| Medium images | 1 :1 | 0.1 |
| Large images | 1 :3 | 0.3 |
| Extra large images | 1 :15 | 1.5 |
AVIF | Small images | 1 :0.9 | 0.09 |
| Medium images | 1 :3 | 0.3 |
| Large images | 1 :9 | 0.9 |
| Extra large images | 1 :15 | 1.5 |
Note:
mage types are charged based on the processed image size: Small images (≤128KB) < Medium images (≤0.5MB) < Large images (≤2MB) < Extra large images.
Nomal Image Processing
Feature Category | Deduction Ratio | Converted Reference Unit Price (USD/1000Times) |
Image resize | 1 :1 | 0.1 |
Image Slimming Optimizer | 1 :1 | 0.1 |
Automatic Rotation Correction | 1 :1 | 0.1 |
image rotate | 1 :1 | 0.1 |

Examples
In October 2024, a customer (hourly settlement) used EdgeOne Just-in-Time Image Processing services as follows: 300 times of Webp Compression,200 times of TPG Compression for Extra large images,100 times of AVIF Compression for Medium images,2000 times of Automatic Rotation Correction.
Function Used | Feature Detail | Image Type | Usage | Deduction Ratio | Converted Media Processing Count Usage |
Smart Format Compression | WebP Compression | Not diff. | 300 | 1 : 1 | 300 * 1 = 300 |
| TPG Compression | Extra Large | 200 | 1 : 15 | 200 * 15 = 3,000 |
| AVIF Compression | Medium | 100 | 1 : 3 | 100 * 3 = 300 |
Automatic Rotation Correction | - | Not diff. | 2,000 | 1 : 1 | 2,000 * 1 = 2,000 |
Total Converted Media Processing Count Usage | | | | | 300 + 3,000 + 300 + 2,000 = 5,600 |
The total Media Processing Count usage is 5,600 instances. With the Media Processing Count unit price of 0.1 USD/1,000 times, the total cost is calculatedly : TotalCost=(5,600/1,000)∗0.10 = $0.56 USD.
just-in-time processing
EdgeOne's media just-in-time processing provides users with a new media processing experience through edge nodes. EdgeOne provides a general media duration billing item that supports deductions based on the duration ratio, which is used to deduct the media processing usage billed by duration.
Pricing
Unit price: 0.003 USD/min.
Scope of use: Supports linear pricing pay-as-you-go to deduct the usage of the video just-in-time processing feature.
Fees = Unit price Deduction ratio Actual duration usage.
The video just-in-time processing feature establishes different deduction ratios based on the codec and resolution of the output file. The ratio will directly affect the corresponding processing duration. In order to facilitate you to intuitively compare the transcoding unit price calculated based on the deduction ratio for each resolution, the following table provides you with the deduction ratios and the converted reference unit prices for different resolutions:
Codec | Resolution | Deduction Ratio | Converted Reference Unit Price (USD/Min) |
H.264 | SD (short side ≤ 480 px) | 1:1 | 0.003 |
H.264 | HD (short side ≤ 720 px) | 1:2 | 0.006 |
H.264 | FHD (short side ≤ 1080px) | 1:3.8 | 0.0114 |
H.264 | 2K (short side ≤ 1440 px) | 1:8.5 | 0.0255 |
Audio transcoding | - | 1:0.3 | 0.0009 |
Remuxing | - | 1:0.45 | 0.00135 |
Note:
The video specifications depend on the video codec and the resolution range of the video's short side.
The billing duration of the day is calculated on a daily basis. The total duration shorter than one minute will be calculated as one minute.
Examples
After the media just-in-time processing feature is enabled, a just-in-time processing duration of 300 minutes is generated.
In October 2024, the EdgeOne video just-in-time processing service was used. On October 1, the H.264 codec was used to request transcoded files with resolutions of 2560 × 1440 and 1280 × 640 for a duration of 100 minutes respectively. In addition, audio transcoded files were requested for a duration of 100 minutes.
Codec | Transcoding Resolution | Duration (Min) | Resolution Specification | Deduction Ratio | Fee on October 1 |
H.264 | 2560 x 1440 (short side ≤ 1440 px) | 100 | 2K | 1:8.5 | 0.003 x 8.5 x 100 = 2.55 USD |
H.264 | 1280 x 640 (480 px ≤ short side ≤ 720 px) | 100 | HD | 1:2 | 0.003 x 2 x 100 = 0.6 USD |
Audio transcoding | - | 100 | - | 1:0.3 | 0.003 x 0.3 x 100 = 0.09 USD |
Total in October | | | | | 3.24 USD |
