EdgeOne Plan Upgrade Guide
After a prepaid plan for EdgeOne (Tencent Cloud EdgeOne, hereinafter referred to as EdgeOne) is purchased, you can upgrade to a higher-tier plan to unlock more capabilities by performing a plan upgrade. This operation upgrades your current plan to a higher specification for the remaining validity period, unlocking the corresponding features. This document describes the procedure and considerations for upgrading your plan.
Upgrade Rules
Currently, only upgrading from a lower edition to a higher edition is supported. Downgrading is not supported.
Self-service operations only support upgrades from Personal Edition to Basic Edition, from Personal Edition to Standard Edition, and from Basic Edition to Standard Edition. Upgrading to Enterprise Edition via self-service is not supported. If you need to upgrade to the Enterprise Edition, please Contact Us.
After a successful plan upgrade, the plan's effective time and expiration time remain the same as before the upgrade. For example: if you have purchased a multi-month plan before the upgrade, the plan for the remaining validity period will be upgraded accordingly.
For a monthly subscription plan with auto-renewal enabled, after a successful upgrade, the plan will be automatically renewed upon expiration based on the upgraded plan edition.
Upgrade Fee Descriptions
Plan Upgrade Fee = Non-Full-Cycle Upgrade Fee for the currently active period + Full-Cycle Upgrade Fee for the purchased but not yet enabled period.
Non-Full-Cycle Upgrade Fee = (Monthly price of the upgraded plan - Monthly price of the original plan) × (Remaining days in the current billing cycle / Total days in the current month).
Remaining Days in the Current Billing Cycle = Expiration Date of the Current Plan Cycle - Effective Date of the Current Cycle.
Full-Cycle Upgrade Fee = (Monthly price of the upgraded plan - Monthly price of the original plan) × Number of full cycles.
Period Examples
A customer subscribed to a 2-month EdgeOne Personal Edition monthly plan on 2023-05-09 15:20:00, which is scheduled to expire on 2023-07-09 15:19:59. The customer upgraded the plan to the Basic Edition on 2023-05-20 15:20:00.
Current Cycle: It refers to the effective period during which the current plan is active in the current month, specifically the period from 2023-05-09 15:20:00 to 2023-06-09 11:59:59.
Non-Full Cycle: It refers to the effective period during which the current plan remains active for the rest of the current month. For example, the currently active period from 2023-05-20 15:20:00 to 2023-06-09 11:59:59 is considered a non-full cycle.
Full Cycle: It refers to the period from 2023-06-09 12:00:00 to 2023-07-09 15:19:59, which is purchased but not yet enabled, as a full cycle.
Upgrade Fee Calculation Examples
A customer subscribed to a 2-month EdgeOne Personal Edition ($4.2/month) monthly plan on 2023-05-09 15:20:00. The plan is scheduled to expire on 2023-07-09 15:19:59. The customer upgraded the plan to the Basic Edition ($57/month) on 2023-05-20 15:20:00.
The upgrade for the first cycle is a non-full-cycle upgrade. The fee is as follows:
Remaining Days in the Current Billing Cycle = Expiration Date of the Current Cycle - Effective Date of the Current Cycle = 2023-06-09 - 2023-05-20 = 20 days.
Non-Full-Cycle Upgrade Fee = (Monthly price of the upgraded plan - Monthly price of the original plan) × (Remaining days in the current billing cycle / Total days in the current month) = ($57 - $4.2) × (20/31) = $36.65.
The upgrade for the remaining cycles is a full-cycle upgrade. The fee is as follows:
Full-Cycle Upgrade Fee = (Monthly price of the upgraded plan - Monthly price of the original plan) × Number of full cycles = ($57 - $4.2) × 1 month = $52.8.
Plan Upgrade Fee = $36.65 + $52.8 = $89.45.
Upgrade Quota Usage Descriptions
The quota allowance (including SCDN traffic and SCDN requests) is issued in full when the plan takes effect. Therefore, during a plan upgrade, only the quota allowance issued for the current billing cycle is supplemented. For cycles that have not yet taken effect, the quota allowance is issued according to the upgraded plan quota after those cycles become active. The following describes the quota allowance issuance for the current billing cycle:
Total Quota Allowance for the Upgraded Plan = Supplemental allowance issued after the upgrade + Allowance already issued before the upgrade.
Supplemental Allowance Issued After Upgrade = (Quota allowance of the upgraded plan - Quota allowance of the original plan) × (Remaining time in the current billing cycle / Total time of the current billing cycle).
Remaining Time in the Current Billing Cycle = Expiration Time of the Current Cycle - Plan Upgrade Time.
Total Time of the Current Billing Cycle = Days in the current billing cycle × 24 × 60 × 60.
Allowance Already Issued Before the Upgrade = Quota allowance of the original plan.
Note:
1. The deduction of billed usage is subject to a certain delay. When you upgrade your plan, the billed usage within the corresponding billing cycle will be deducted from the upgraded plan's usage allowance.
2. If you have purchased a multi-month plan before the upgrade, the system supplements the differential for the current billing cycle according to the logic described above. For other cycles that have not yet taken effect, the full quota allowance is issued directly based on the upgraded plan's quota.
Usage Calculation Examples After Upgrade
A customer subscribed to a 2-month EdgeOne Personal Edition monthly plan on 2023-05-09 15:20:00, which is scheduled to expire on 2023-07-09 15:19:59. The customer upgraded the plan to the Basic Edition on 2023-05-20 15:20:00.
Supplemental traffic issued after the upgrade = (500 - 50) × (2023-06-09 15:19:59 - 2023-05-20 15:20:00) / (31 × 24 × 60 × 60) = 450 × 1727999 / 2678400 = 290.32 GB.
Supplemental requests issued after the upgrade = (2000 - 300) × (2023-06-09 15:19:59 - 2023-05-20 15:20:00) / (31 × 24 × 60 × 60) = 1700 × 1727999 / 2678400 = 10.9677 million times.
Total traffic for the upgraded plan = 290.32 GB + 50 GB = 340.32 GB.
Total requests for the upgraded plan = 10.9677 million times + 3 million times = 13.9677 million times.
